If possible a home visit is a good way to start the process, allowing me to see the environment in which the finished piece will sit. Drawings and timber samples can be supplied until a final design is agreed upon. You are under no obligation until the final design is given your approval. A deposit of 30% of full cost is requested with the balance payable on collection or delivery. In the case of large commissions a stepped payment method is used.
If you would like to discuss your ideas or requirements please feel free to contact me by phone, e-mail or letter.
The timber I use is, wherever possible, from sustainable sources. We are very fortunate in this country to have some very beautiful timbers such as Oak, Ash, Sycamore, Beech and Elm. Although the latter is now becoming very scarce because of Dutch Elm disease, it has the most amazing grain colouration and patterns. Often the more unusual timbers, such as Burr and Spalted, are sourced from tree surgeons who remove dead or diseased trees and would normally cut them up for fire wood.
I have been collecting timber for many years and have some very fine stock.
